I had an Encyclopedia of Cooking, I think it was titled, from the 1970s. A home disaster meant I no longer have it. In it there was a recipe for carrot cookies, using grated raw carrots, topped with a dusting of powdered sugar. I would love to have that recipe again, if you can find it.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
How about some Great Depression recipes? I'm interested in frugal cooking.
ReplyDeleteI randomly found your page when searching "noodle rings"...your site is wonderful! Do you have a Twitter and/or Facebook page? You should if you haven't...I think people would really love it!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous: Was the recipe something like this? http://timetravelkitchen.blogspot.ca/2011/10/carrot-cookies.html
ReplyDeleteChristina: No Twitter or Facebook, but I am on Pinterest! Maybe I'll branch out a bit, though ;)
Hi Anje - I'm enjoying reading your articles and love that you actually cook the recipes. I do this as well on my blog at auntlilskitchen.com. I hope you'll check it out and possibly include a link to my site. I'm going to add you to mine. I too am a history/museum person having worked in the field for 30 years. Thanks for your great posts and keep cooking! Lisa
ReplyDeleteJust found you site & love it. I collect old cook books with a few from the 1930's moving forward to 50's,60's & 70's. I collect community & church cookbooks. I'd love to have a blog like yours but due to illness
ReplyDeleteam no longer able to make them all. My kids used to pick ones & then we'd try them. I'm about to checkout your pinterest page. I wonder if you'd consider a monthly ( or more often) newsletter with some of your recipes. I'll enjoy checking out your recipes. I tend to be one of those people who read cookbooks esp. old ones like novels. I'm also checking out the site whith the Canadian books. How great to save those.
Thanks for your kind words, Deb!
ReplyDeleteIf you're ever up to it, I would love to feature a recipe you made on the blog!
(This goes for any readers, by the way!)
