Strawberry Ribbon Squares (1975) ★
All I have to say for this one is no. Just no.
Original Recipe:
The Verdict:
The crust was like a buttery rock and stuck to the pan.The pudding layer was, well, pudding. Goopy and everywhere.
The Jell-O layer was the best part, but the huge chunks of soggy berries were a detriment.
Modernized Recipe:
(From The Jell-O Idea Book)It's already modernized, but I would advise against making this.
Haha! Oh dear. I jumped right over to read this when I saw the 1 star rating...such a shame, because on paper it doesn't sound terrible
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy your blog and appreciate the recipe warnings. This recipe reminds me of classic 70s "food" - what a god awful period in food, music and clothing. Although there is a better version of this layered dessert using a pretzel crust, cool whip & cream cheese center topped with the same strawberry jello layer. I have no idea what it is called my mother -in-law called it pretzel salad.
ReplyDeleteI've seen that one! I actually thought it looked really good. I love cream cheese. Maybe I'll try it out one day!
DeleteI have a recipe close to this and I have made so many times that it is almost all erased lol
ReplyDeleteDifferences graham cracker crumbs
Cream cheese, vanilla pudding and cool whip( where I got my recipe
It is absolutely a family favourite
And for the lady that did not like the strawberries I cut mine in smaller pieces works great for me
ReplyDeleteMy mom made this every Christmas and I came looking for it here. It's not that bad!! I think you did it wrong.
